The happiness, safety and satisfaction of our students is of paramount importance to us. We place a strong emphasis on ensuring that students enjoy their experience in Christchurch, and on ensuring that parents are confident of the safety of their children. To meet this goal we have an extensive network to provide educational, vocational and personal guidance for students.

The Director of International Students oversees the enrolment and progress of International Students during their time at Burnside High School.

The International Student Manager is available to assist International Students in educational matters as well as personal matters.

The Homestay Co-ordinator assists students in finding high quality homestay accommodation and will supervise the placement throughout the students stay.

The ESOL teachers assist International Students in improving their English and are also very helpful to students in adapting to the New Zealand school system.

Each division of the school has two Deans who are responsible for the placement and performance of all students in that division.

Four Guidance Counselors are available to help students with more complex personal problems.

The Transition and Careers teacher is available to help students with tertiary education placements.
