Rivalries were renewed on Tuesday this week with our Annual Ashburton Sports Exchange. 130 students and eight staff made the journey south.
Ashburton put on a show on Tuesday with a blue bird day minus the wind that we had in Christchurch.
This hotly contested annual event was extremely close this year and with the trophy on the line, our teams had to show their grit and determination to get this win across the line.
Our teams played with pride and great sportsmanship and managed to slip past Ashburton with a 6-5 win overall.
Burnside triumphed in:
-
Golf
-
Junior Boys Basketball
-
Girls and Boys 1st X1 Hockey
-
Girls and Boys 1st X1 Football
Ashburton had the advantage over our four netball teams and junior girls basketball.
Congratulations to everyone for another enjoyable sporting exchange – we can proudly display the trophy in our school reception for another year.
Thanks to our sports coordinators, Rozz Guillemot and Tracy Taylor and director of sport, Theresa Stevens and the huge number of staff behind the scenes to make this annual exchange a reality.
