Congratulations to all students and staff for a wonderful athletics competition over Thursday and Friday this week.

It was great to see the number of students who participated and gave it their very best on each occasion – even if they chose to attend in fancy dress!

The standard of competition was once again very high and our congratulations go to the winners, those on the podium and everyone else who exceeded their expectations. Results will be out very soon and we’ll publish them in the next Burnside Bulletin.

However, there is two outstanding results to share today. Congratulations to Dylan Williams who is now the new school record holder in the Over 16 Boys 100 metres, with a time of 11.13 seconds. The previous school record goes back at least 50 years. We are checking!

Huge congratulations to Ben Jorgenson who threw 33.01 metres in the U15 Boys Discus. The previous record stood from 2021 and was 32.82 metres.

Next up for our athletes is the Canterbury Secondary School Preliminary competition at Ngā Puna Wai on 18 March, with the finals scheduled for 21 March. We look forward to seeing what our athletes can produce at these events.
