Congratulations to our badminton contingent that performed so highly at the South Island Secondary Schools’ Badminton competition in Dunedin.
We are delighted to share that our three terms performed exceptionally over a very cold weekend and stadium in Dunedin. They were up against the best of the South Island teams and triumphed!
Our first boys team, consisting of Adam Talhah, Alex Huang, Alvin Wei, Jason Zhang and Jasper Wong brought home gold to Christchurch. Tied in games with their opposition, they took home gold on a points countback. They extended the Burnside record – we have now taken out gold four years in a row.
Ryan Huang, Leo Lyu, Rohan Gala, Johannes Miro-Ato, Ian Sung and Billy Wen, made up our second boys contingent and had some very exciting games.
In the girls competition, Lisa Ho, Yoyo Weng, Noa Miyamoto, Loretta Liu and Jael Cheng, fought very hard to secure a bronze place medal.
Fantastic performances by each team and individual. Special thanks to teachers, Victor Ji and Anna Wetherall for taking the team south.
