The NZ Athletics Team is currently in Darwin, Australia for the Oceania Championships. Our very own Barnaby Todd and Ari Keshariya have been in action, with Barnaby bringing home a silver medal!

A huge congratulations to Year 12 student, Barnaby Todd, on an excellent performance at the Oceania Championships in Darwin, Australia.

A strong performance in the U18 Men 400metre preliminaries saw Barnaby through to the final in his favourite individual event. After qualifying eighth, Barnaby produced another exceptional performance to finish sixth in this Oceania event.

As part of the mixed 4 x 400m NZ relay team he secured a silver medal!

Showing his support of Barnaby was Year 13 student, Ari Keshariya, who at 17 years of age competed as part of the senior men’s team for the first time, competing in the high jump.

These two remarkable athletes were in the New Zealand team alongside big names in NZ athletics including Sam tanner, Tiaan Whelpton and Jacko Gill.

The championships were held at Arafura Stadium, Darwin, Australia, from the 18th to the 23rd of May 2026. The area championships are held every two years and provide crucial global rankings points for senior athletes and valuable international competition experience for our emerging athletes.
