On Friday, 23rd May, the Aurora Centre came alive with sound and energy as several Burnside High School bands took to the stage for the Canterbury region’s Rockquest heats.
Representing our school with passion and talent were:
-
Dystoria – Barnaby Todd, Connell Tressler, Oscar Johnson, Alana Thompson
-
Equilibrium – Wonie Park, Finley Tressler, Corban Blackwell, Alex Gibson
-
Heartworm – Ayshanie Ayingaran, Lizzie Murdoch, Shen Mahesh, Ari Bucher, Luke Mercer, Jaeda Hempseed, Ida Clausen
-
Teddy Bear Guillotine – Sarita Kotze, Ethan Garrett, Wesley Tran, Priya Bartlett
All groups delivered powerful performances and left everything on the stage. A special congratulations goes to Equilibrium (progressive metal) and Teddy Bear Guillotine (heavy metal), who have advanced to the Regional Final on Saturday, 7th June, placing them in the top 16 out of 77 bands entered across Canterbury.
We also celebrate Roddy MacPherson (Year 13) who placed 3rd in the Solo/Duo category, a fantastic achievement in a highly competitive field.
Well done to all our musicians—your hard work, creativity, and dedication continue to make Burnside proud!
