Burnside High School’s Technology teachers are once again stepping up as national leaders in their field.

This term, members of our Technology faculty have been invited to deliver a series of professional development workshops across the country in partnership with NZGTTA (NZ Graphics and Technology Teachers Association) and DTTA (Digital Technologies Teachers Aotearoa).

These workshops are designed to help schools nationwide strengthen their Years 7–13 Technology programmes and refine their teaching for the refreshed NCEA Level 1 standards. With a focus on hands-on, practical learning and clear progression pathways, they showcase what effective, future-focused Technology education looks like.

Our staff—John Creighton, Samuel O’Sullivan, Toni Maddaford, Steve Dunford, and Steven Rodkiss—are being recognised for their expertise in delivering robust, engaging programmes that take students from foundational learning all the way through to Scholarship-level success.

We’re proud to see our teachers not only leading outstanding classroom programmes here at Burnside, but also shaping the national direction of Technology education in Aotearoa.

The teachers involved have contributed their time both during school release and by generously leading this professional development on weekends.
