June 23, 2026

Organised by our very own Murray Paull and the Canterbury Mathematics Association, this is an annual opportunity for Year 11 students from across the region to test their skills against each other.

Burnside High School hosted this annual event this week in the Aurora Centre Green Room. It was the largest event to date with twenty teams of keen mathematicians taking part.

The competition was won by St Margaret’s College but our team was a close second. Rangi Ruru Girls High School and St Andrews College tied for third place

Congratulations to Werner Hsaio 11NOYL, Aruksha Gupta 11NMDT, Stacey Huang 11WZHY and Johnny Huang 11SMRT for their podium finish.

Johnny Huang also competed as an individual in the beat the buzzer mental arithmetic rounds against the other schools and won that competition.
