Have you noticed the trucks and construction site from Memorial Avenue and wondered what we are up to?
Burnside High School is very pleased to share that the Ministry of Education and our School Board are building a replacement for our demolished I&J blocks.
Hawkins are now on site and the foundation excavation is underway. They are looking at the stormwater this week, with our mains water being off from 3.30pm on Friday to facilitate this. School services will stop at 3.30 today, so this work can be undertaken.
The Ministry is building back ten classrooms to replace the original 24. Our school Board is funding a further four classrooms, so fourteen in total. We are hopeful to have this operational this time next year.
Environmentally, Hawkins will limit what goes to landfill, as consent has been granted to use content remaining from the demolition of I&J blocks.
The really visible work will start to take shape in November. We look forward to watching its progress.
