Burnside High School has recently won the regional competition to go on and compete in the NSSCC (National Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge).
A team of 2 Year 13 students (Maddie Trafford and Kaitlyn Braithwaite) had to create and submit photos and recipes for an entree where the main hero of the dish was cauliflower.
This is a prestigious event where only 8 schools across the country are chosen to compete at the final being held at MIT in Auckland on August 23rd.
Each team must prepare, cook and serve 4 plated portions of their cauliflower entree and 4 plated portions of a Main course using Waitoa chicken, at least 3 servings of NZ-grown fresh vegetables, a starch component, and a sauce.
The winning school receives prizes worth over $5000. On the day following the competition, all of the students competing take part in the NZ Culinary Journey, visiting a variety of suppliers and hospitality venues.
Keep your fingers crossed for us!!
