March 30, 2026

Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) provides a link between students, whanau and our school, and works to foster a sense of school community.

If you are a parent or caregiver of a student at Burnside High School, you are automatically a member and we would love to see you there.

Our PTA objectives are:

  • To actively promote interaction between parents and teachers, school management, and the school Board.

  • To provide educational opportunities for parents in relation to their student’s

    development.

  • To use PTA funds to provide improved facilities and opportunities for the school

    community.

  • To provide the opportunity for parents to have a voice.

The upcoming meeting on Monday 4 May will be an Annual General Meeting, where we will agree our new constitution, reflect on our successes and contributions to Burnside High School in 2025 and look forward to our planned activities in 2026.

We will also be agreeing where your donation funds are placed within the school in our first funding round decisions of 2026.

In the past, the PTA has supported a huge number of initiatives – some of these are outlined below.

  • Tri-lingual signage throughout our school

  • Fitness equipment for It’s My Move project

  • Whitewater kayaks, Sea kayaks and paddles

  • Yr 13 building and construction supplies

  • 10 outdoor picnic tables

  • Breakout space furniture for Pukehinau

  • Artwork by Dick Frizzell

  • Donation towards Kai Hub

  • Netball Resources

  • Sports uniforms

  • Evolocity

  • Year 9 Activity Day

  • Bi-Lingual Dictionaries

  • Posters for Pukehinau

  • Quad rowing boat (contribution)

  • School Formal Decorations (multi use)

  • Robotics Table Materials

  • Agility with Sound – Structured Literacy and Decodable Books

PTA funds come from the voluntary annual PTA donation that appears on your school account. These funds are allocated twice a year to those school projects which meet our funding criteria. The PTA does not undertake any other fundraising so we really appreciate your contribution.

Please join us for all meetings, they are a great way to meet other parents and staff and to learn more about how the PTA operates. We will be joined by Tumuaki / Acting Principal Andrea Magson who will give us an update on news around the school and is always happy to answer any questions.

All students and whanau are welcome.
