Congratulations to Alivia Harrison and Eileen Coupé our Junior Speech Competition winners for 2025.
This year, for the Year 9 Speech Competition, students could choose to speak on a variety of topics. These topics included exploring an Admirable New Zealander, or a taonga that was special to them, or even sharing their own personal superpower.
This year’s overall winner comes from Te Puna Tonga South Division, presenting a speech that both engaged and challenged her audience, with an interesting and insightful discussion on why sleep is her superpower, and should be ours too, congratulations to Alivia Harrison.
For the Year 10 Speech Competition, students could choose to speak on a variety of topics. These topics included current events, exploring what the older generation needs to learn, or even a skill or object that we should all have in our kete, our basket of knowledge.
This year’s overall winner also comes from Te Puna Tonga South Division, Eileen Coupé, who presented a speech which challenged our thinking and addressed why we should all have the tools to recognise propaganda in our kete.
