Fixed term, part-time (16 hours per week), term time only support staff position to commence as soon as possible

Waimairi-iri Burnside High School, a well-respected and successful school of 2400 students, is seeking a motivated, energetic and skilled person to be part of our dynamic team. Experience in supporting students with diverse requirements, including specific learning difficulties, in order to optimise their access to learning opportunities that encourage personal, social, academic progression and achievement is preferable.

A key aspect to this role is to identify accessibility barriers and support requirements for identified students and plan, create and implement programmes to address these specific needs. A strength in literacy and numeracy would be advantage.

Applicants should possess the following attributes:

  • Ability to advocate and work with young people from a range of backgrounds, including priority learners who are experiencing accessibility difficulties
  • An evidence-based understanding of the academic, social and cultural needs of students and how learning and social difficulties and neurodivergence impact upon accessibility to learning
  • Competent use of range of standard IT applications and equipment
  • Strong personal organisational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Friendly, approachable manner

Remuneration will be in line with the current Support Staff in Schools’ Collective Agreement.

Police clearance will be undertaken.
