Permanent part-time (15 hours per week), term time only support staff position
Waimairi-iri Burnside High School, a well-respected and successful school of 2600 students, is seeking a motivated, energetic and skilled person to be part of our dynamic team. Experience in supporting students with diverse requirements, including specific learning difficulties, in order to optimise their access to learning opportunities that encourage personal, social, academic progression and achievement is preferable.
Key aspects include from the list of identified students, specific identification of accessibility barriers and support requirements, the planning, creating, and implementation of programmes to address these specific needs.
Responsibilities and Key Tasks

Manage the referrals and provide individualised case management for students with diverse support requirements and specific learning difficulties that involve effective, professional, contextual, and inclusive assessment to understand, evaluate and support needs.

Identification of specific needs of students, including potential accessibility barriers

Plan, create, deliver, monitor and evaluate programmes for students to address their specific learning needs

Develop resources to use throughout the programmes

Where appropriate, provide programme resources and training to staff, in good practices for the teacher/learning process for students with accessibility issues. This may include Learning Assistants/ Teacher Aides

Provide specialist information for students’ Individual Education Plan (IEP) and/ or review meetings where appropriate.

Monitor the effectiveness of support arrangements for individual students, assess needs using current assessment tools and update recommendations as required.

To work one on one or with a small group of students to deliver strategic initiatives and programmes for learners.

Provide support to the Accessibility Advisor team to interpret external reports and provide relevant information to staff outlining the impact of various learning factors as well as providing strategies to use for the individual students.

Act as a reader/ writer/ supervisor for students who have Special Assessment Conditions (SAC) provisions.
Police clearance will be undertaken.
