Peer Tutoring is provided by Year 13 students who have a proven academic record, and have attended a training session.

There are two types of Peer Tutoring available at Burnside.

For Year 9 and 10 students we have “drop-in” tutoring in the library on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at lunchtime. Year 9 and 10 students can attend these drop-in sessions as they need to. Perhaps they are stuck on a question in class or need some guidance on a project. Peer tutoring is a great option. A friend is also welcome to attend. There is no formal arrangement for these drop-in sessions.

For Year 11, 12 and 13 students we offer 1-1 Peer Tutoring. To access this service please see your dean. Students often self-refer for this 1-1 tutoring, but staff and parents are also welcome to request tutoring for students.

This is a fantastic service and we appreciate the efforts of our year 13 students in supporting their peers. Each tutor earns service hours which contribute towards their graduation service award.
