We’ve refreshed our strategic plan, the roadmap that guides what we focus on as a school and where we’re heading.
Our strategic plan helps drive decisions on subjects, sports, arts, facilities and so much more. We have to do this every three years.
This refresh doesn’t change our vision, mission or values; these were confirmed during the school’s rebrand last year. Instead, we’ve updated our strategic priorities to ensure they reflect the needs, aspirations and voices of our whole school community.

Where are we at in the process?
Our updated strategy was agreed by our outgoing School Board in September 2025.
Our incoming Board meet at the end of October and now need to review the agreed strategy. The new strategy will take effect from 2026 and be in place for three years.
We will share more detail soon.

Why does it matter?
Our strategy helps focus what’s most important for our students, our staff, and our community in the years ahead.
We will provide more information on our updated strategy soon.

The future of NCEA Level 1
NCEA (National Certificate of Educational Achievement) is the main qualification for senior secondary students in Aotearoa New Zealand. It’s offered at three levels:
Level 1 – usually completed in Year 11
Level 2 – usually completed in Year 12
Level 3 – usually completed in Year 13
You don’t need to complete one level before moving onto the next.
Since we started our engagement on our strategy the government has proposed replacing NCEA in its entirety. This consultation closed on 15 September 2025 and decisions by the Government are expected soon. This will impact our decision making regarding NCEA.
What’s changing nationally?
The government has proposed to replace NCEA. Consultation on this closed on 15 September and we are now waiting on the Government to make decisions, once they have reviewed the consultation feedback.
