Schoology is our online learning management system. Students use Schoology to receive classroom work and submit assessments, as well as receiving extra-curricular activity updates and reminders.

Parents can have access to Schoology to see what their teen is up to and to see some of the work that they are undertaking. Please remember this is just one learning tool that is used within the school and will not cover everything that is being learnt by your teenager.

If you are new to Burnside High School you will receive an email generated by Schoology advising that an account has been created for you, using the email address that we have on file here at school. You can then use the link provided in the email, visit schoology.burnside.school.nz or access Schoology via the menu on our school website to login.

Please start by checking your settings are correct by clicking on your name in the top right corner and navigate to settings. We recommend you change your password here and set your notification preferences.

To see Schoology from the viewpoint of your teenager:

  1. Change the user settings to your teen by clicking on your name in the top right corner.

  2. You will now see a banner stating you are “viewing as….”

  3. Courses (classes) and groups (e.g. year group, extracurricular groups) that your teen is a member of will show.

Please note that parents have view rights only, however, you will see your students calendar and assigned work. Please remember that this is not all the work that your teenager will be asked to do and there are some Google documents which can only be accessed by students and staff.

If you have any questions or concerns about assessments and work, please contact the relevant teacher or dean via email rather than other channels and arrange a conversation.
