Juvee lead the way with another successful year for Burnside High School as the Smokefreerockquest regional competition and there is more to come!
A huge congratulations to Charlie Pearce, Zack Johnson, Jett Chettleburgh and Isaac Peterson who took home the crown of Canterbury’s top high school band at the Smokefreerockquest regional final on Saturday night.
The regional finals were held at the Ngaio Marsh Theatre at the University of Canterbury and the four-piece band, Juvee, stole the show. They were amongst 16 finalists on Saturday night, chosen from almost 100 Canterbury schools who had earlier in May fought it out in the heats hosted at our very own Aurora Centre.
Performing original work, Charlie, Zack, Jett and Isaac are all looking to pursue musical careers and they are on the right track!
Guitarist and singer Zack was also named best vocalist at the awards.
To top off an incredible evening Mind The Gap consisting of Reiss Fatani and Alex Gibson took home first place in the solo/duo category with Nightstand Sessions, being Jess Aylmer and Ashton Johnson, right behind them in second place.
We now eagerly await the conclusion of all the regional events this month to see how the Smokefreerockquest finals play out later in the year. Watch this space!
