Thank you to our outgoing board

Putting your hand up to be on a school board is a large, three-year, voluntary commitment. Our new board will take office on 17 September and so it’s time to say a massive thanks to our outgoing board.

The last three year term has not been easy.

The current board took office and were faced with finding a new principal at their very first meeting. Then came the earthquake prone buildings, the loss of I&J blocks, administration block strengthening and ongoing issues with the repair and maintenance of our Ministry of Education owned buildings.

There were good things too! Like the opening of Pukehinau, our tremendous educational outcomes and from this week, shovels in the ground for the I&J block replacement.

Through all of this and the standard governance matters of personnel, health and safety, policies, and finance amongst other things, our current board have given up their time and energy to make Burnside High School a better place for everyone.

Our outgoing board have gone above and beyond in their support of Burnside High School, in particular our outgoing presiding chair, Chris Dann. His legal expertise and relentless energy means that his Burnside High School legacy will be extremely long and very much valued for generations to come.

Thank you to parental representatives Kelly McGowan, Chris Wallace, Sam Brock-Smith, Amy Liu and Chris Dann. We see you and thank you for all you have done. You have shown personal excellence and care for others, that will make a positive impact on Burnside High School students and whānau for years to come.
