On 9-11 February 2024, Burnside High School took six students’ to VEX Nationals in Auckland.

Vex is a international robotics competition where the students design, build and put their robot to the test against some of the best teams in the country. Despite fierce competition from 75 teams from across the country, both Burnside teams showcased remarkable talent by securing spots in the top 16 alliances. Although they faced tough challenges in the knockout matches, their perseverance and hard work was truly commendable.

We are especially proud to announce that Burnside received the Build Award, recognizing the team’s outstanding craftsmanship and commitment to building robots with reliability and consistency. Judges, hailing from the engineering industry, took particular interest in Team X’s robot, sparking meaningful conversations and connections for our students.

The students involved were Aditya Bansal, William Li Chen, Ezra Cheyne, Aditya Pramod, Akhila Sharma, Andrew Wu. Throughout the weekend, our students showed great sportsmanship and respect. They constantly evaluated their performance and worked hard to do their best in every match. Their dedication to fair play and improvement reflects the values we cherish at Burnside High School.
