The Year 12 Geography classes set off this week on an exciting three-day field trip to Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park.

Trip participants immersed themselves in the stunning alpine landscapes of the Southern Alps.

This hands-on experience was designed to enhance students’ knowledge of glacial processes, mountain ecosystems, and the effects of human activity in high-altitude environments.

Throughout the trip, students engaged in thought-provoking discussions on the use of 1080 for pest control, explored renowned tracks such as the Hooker Valley and Blue Lakes walks, and took to the skies with Inflite Skiplanes’ Tasman Taster flights.

The students also examined local hydroelectric and aquaculture projects, assessed the impacts of tourism, and gained valuable insights into waste and water management strategies within the national park.

An incredible three day experience. Thank you to all the staff and the many helpers who made this opportunity possible.
